A powerful red wine from the Leskovik area!

Max Mavrud winery is located in the mountainous area in south-east Albania in Leskovik.
Currently the winery produce a type of red wine, a harmonious blend, a combination of red cultivars such as Mavrud and Merlot or Pinot and Merlot.
The average load of vineyard varies from 50 to 60 kw per hectare, an average of 1.4 kg of grapes per vine.

The winery vineyards are cultivated in mountainous terrain at an altitude of 750 meters above sea level in the south with a very suitable position facing the sun.The land Ph is at 6.8.
We have started with 6 hectares of vineyards but aim to grow no more than 10-12 hectares. Vineyards cultivars are Mavrud, Merlot, Pinot Noir, White and Black Debine, Pearl.

Currently 4 hectares are with Mavrud, Merlot and Pinot Black for the production of red wine and 2 hectares with the White and Black Debina, and Pearl are for the production of brandy and the famous Raki.

In the period of optimum ripeness of grapes the averages percentage of sugar is 23 % Brix, expressed in average 13.5% alcohol by volume.

Mavrud varieties, Merlot and Pinot cultivated during the communist regime in the 1980s in the Leskovik area in the height 900 meters above sea level resisted very well to this climate giving excellent results.

During the 1990s, with the collapse of the dictatorship and many vineyards in Leskovik countrywide were destroyed.

Family Max Mavrud invested in this area to give again an identity that is recognized internationally choosing precisely those indigenous varieties such as White and Black Debinë.
