With the help of a local architect, the Tuscan-inspired house took shape, in which the restaurant and kitchen are located on the ground floor, while the first floor consists of eight rooms, a common lounge and a veranda. The hotel is tastefully decorated with a mix of modern and classic elements. The corridors and rooms contain original works of art by talented Albanian painters.
The village of Gjepalaj lies south of Shijak, a small town near Durrës, characterized by the usual communist-era brick apartment blocks mixed with traditional small family houses. While the rest of the Gjepalaj village lies on top of a small hill, the Gjepali farm restaurant is located in the east of the village, on a river loop surrounded by nature, with no other houses in its vicinity. The number of customers and visitors staying overnight at Agritourism Gjepali since its opening in April 2019 is surprising, and is a testament to the owner’s reputation.
The restaurant offers local specialties, such as milk pie, homemade meatballs, beef ribs cooked in the oven, fresh homemade cheese, lamb baked in yogurt. The recipes are refined by Fundim Gjepali himself, and are prepared by his kitchen staff, whom he has trained for months to serve over 170 customers. A selection of mainly Albanian wines, as well as some selected Italian wines are displayed on a dedicated wall of the restaurant and can accompany your meal.
